CHECK OUT THIS MEMO I GOT AT WORK TODAY DATE: January 3, 2007 TO: L’Oreal USA Streetsboro Employees and Agency Associates FROM: Jim Murphy SUBJECT: Cafeteria Issue In our continuing effort to keep prices low, there is an established portion standard for certain food items in our cafeteria. Some food items are priced by weight such as salad and fresh cut fruit. Others are priced based on fixed portions such as entrees, pizza, sandwiches and soup. On the topic of soup, we are experiencing portion issues with the broth based soups. Because this is a self service item, some people are draining off the broth and heaping their bowls with soup contents such as steak and potatoes, chicken and noodles, etc. As a result of this behavior, everyone is not able to enjoy the soup as prepared. I would like to remind you of how Webster’s defines soup: a liquid food especially with meat, fish or vegetable stock as a base often containing pieces of solid food. Hopefully, this reminder will correct the problem. If not, we will pursue other options including, increasing the price of soup, weighing the soup, or pre portioning the soup. I appreciate and expect your cooperation in this matter. |
